Match number -11, April 18, 2021

Venue – Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Time – 1930 PM IST

Likely Playing Conditions –

Mumbai has surprised one and all with the pitches for the last two games that have seen low scoring games. Delhi lost a low scoring game courtesy a late order assault from Chris Morris while Punjab Kings were blown away by the swing of Deepak Chahar as they folded for a paltry 106 for 8 in their stipulated 20 overs. Sunday night will be interesting battle between two teams who both won their first games but have suffered morale crushing defeats in their second game.

Likely Playing XI for Delhi Capitals –

Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Steve Smith, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (Captain and WK), Shimron Hetmyer, Lalit Yadav, Ravi Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan and Chris Woakes.

Likely Playing XI for Punjab Kings

KL Rahul (Captain and WK), Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Dawid Malan, Deepak Hooda, Shah Rukh Khan, Murugan Ashwin, Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, Mohammad Shami and Arshdeep Singh.

Likely Star Performers with the bat –

For Delhi the onus will fall on the openers Dhawan and Shaw who both failed to get going in the last game against RR while skipper Pant too will be looked at with interest

For Punjab birthday boy KL Rahul who turns 29 today will play a huge role and with Pooran out of form the inclusion of Malan could also swing the game towards Punjab with the Englishman a batsman to watch out for in T20 cricket.

Likely Star Performers with the ball –

Punjab haven’t got going with the ball but Mohammad Shami has shown glimpses of coming back to his best along with the Indian young talent of Arshdeep Singh who has been a revelation with the ball.

Delhi will look at the Rabada and Ashwin combine to provide crucial breakthroughs but Avesh Khan has come into the side and done exceedingly well and could be a star performer yet again.

Players to tread caution with

This might be the last chance for Mayank Agarwal as he has had two bad games with the bat and yet another failure would mean Gayle coming up the order to opener for Punjab.

Ajinkya Rahane is also on a last chance saloon as the Indian test batsman hasn’t really lit the IPL on fire with the bat the 32 year old will want to make the most of batting at his home venue in Mumbai
