Big name player ruled out of England tour as new captain named

International cricket is coming thick and fast and the excitement doesn’t cease to exist. We are mere days away from the final test match of the India versus England series which began in 2021. India will play the final test at Birmingham followed by the ODI and T20 series. The English summer doesn’t end there as they are set to host South Africa for ODI, T20 and Test series after the departure of the Indian team.

Temba Bavuma set to miss the entire England series –

South Afican white ball skipper and mainstay of the Proteas test side, Temba Bavuma is set to miss the entire tour of England. Bavuma got injured on his elbow during the recent T20 series against India. He first copped a blow to the helmet against Bhuvi Kumar, while getting hit on his elbow by Avesh Khan. The South African captain will not take part in the series giving the South African team a huge blow.

New captains named for the ODI and T20 series –

Dean Elgar will lead the Proteas in the test series, but in the T20, David Miller has been named the skipper of the side. Keshav Maharaj will lead the team in the ODI format, with Kagiso Rabada being rested to manage his workload in the ODI format. Dewald Brevis has been snubbed yet again for the T20 format.

South African selector has his say –

Former South Africa player Victor Mpitsang also revealed the return of Rilee Rossouw to the national set up. The South African selector spoke about the importance of the series against England. The Proteas selector while speaking to he media said “the national selection committee and I are relishing the opportunity to see what this strong proteas group will produce in the all important tour of England. With ICC test championship points at stake, the team has everything to play for”

South Africa begin their tour with 3 ODI games starting on 19th July with the venues being Durham, Manchester and Leeds. The 3 T20 games will be played at Bristol, Cardiff and Southampton. The tour ends with 3 tests at Lords, Manchester and Oval. The tour starts on 19th July and ends on 12th September.
