Dinesh Karthik comes up with a classy tweet for Rajat Patidar’s India Call Up

Indian team under Rohit Sharma have wrapped up the T20I series with a 16 run win on Sunday. The final game will be played on Tuesday and it is an inconsequential encounter at Indore. On Sunday, the Indian selectors had met to pick the team for the 3 match ODI series against South Africa. The series begins on Thursday with the 1st game at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium Ekana at Lucknow.

The story as it happened –

Shikhar Dhawan has been named the captain of the Indian side for the 3 match ODI series against South Africa. The BCCI selectors met to pick the squad and all also gave first time call ups to Mukesh Kumar and Rajat Patidar. The team also had some of the regulars in the squad for the 3 match series.

Once the news of Rajat Patidar being called up to the Indian squad made the rounds, his RCB teammate Dinesh Karthik’s joy knew no bounds. The 37 year old India wicket keeper batter took to Twitter. Karthik wrote “So happy to see Rajat Patidar there, so deserves this selection. Well done to Mukesh Kumar too. Now Sarfaraz Khan and Indrajith Baba into the test scheme of things. Cant ignore such brilliant performers and performances. They’ve just been phenomenal TALENT APLENTY “

Rajat Patidar’s year to remember started with IPL –

Rajat Patidar the 29 year old from MP came into RCB as a replacement player during the TATA IPL 2022 season. Patidar scored a memorable century for RCB during the season. Patidar scored 112* versus LSG at Kolkata, which led them to the eliminator against RR. The right hander followed it up with 58 against RR but that wasn’t enough for RCB to qualify for the final.

Match winning knock in Ranji Final –

Post the TATA IPL 2022 season ended, Patidar went back to Ranji Trophy to play for Madhya Pradesh. Patidar scored 85 in the quarter final against Punjab followed by 7 and 79 against Bengal. In the final against Mumbai, Patidar scored a match winning 122 and followed it up with 30* in the 2nd dig to win the title for the first time.

Century exploits for India A –

New Zealand A was the next opponent for Patidar as he scored 2 centuries during the 3 match 4 day games for India A. in the first game, Patidar scored 176 followed it up with 4 in the 2nd game. In the final game he scored 30 in the first innings and followed it up with 109*. In the two List A games, Patidar scored 45* and 20 and this was enough to earn him a call up to the Indian side.
