Vinod Kambli runs into trouble yet again

 

Vinod Kambli was as bright and talented a cricketer as his good friend the former Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar. The left hander who was known for his flamboyant batting also was known to love life on the fast lane. The 50 year old former Indian cricketer time and again has fallen into some problems. This time Kambli has fallen into trouble with the law.

The story as it happened –

Vinod Kambli the former left handed batsman who played for India was caught by the police for driving under influence of alcohol. The incident happened on Sunday afternoon after he dashed his car into the car of former Indian cricketer Ramesh Powar’s wife. He also scrapped the premises wall. Powar’s wife Tejaswini made the call to the cops when she saw this. According to the statement of the cops where they said “ Kambli was caught immediately when the police control room received a message about him speeding on the building premises after crashing into a parked SUV that belong ex-cricketer Ramesh Powar’s wife Tejaswini. She made the call to the control room on noticing that Kambli had left the place after crashing into her car before brushing the compound wall and speeding away”

Kambli’s international career and numbers –

Vinod Kambli came into limelight when he shared a 664 run stand with Sachin Tendulkar in a school game in late 1980’s. He trained under known coach Ramakant Achrekar. Kambli born on January 18, 1972 made his debut for India in 1991 against Pakistan at Sharjah in ODI cricket. He played his last ODI at the same venue against Sri Lanka nine years later. Kambli played 104 ODI games scoring under 2500 runs with an average of 32. He scored 2 centuries and 14 fifties. He played 17 tests for India scoring 1084 runs with an average of 54. He scored back to back double centuries against England and Zimbabwe. He made his test debut against England at Kolkata in 1993 and played his last test against New Zealand 2 years later in 1995. In domestic cricket he played 129 first class games scoring 9965 runs with 35 centuries and 44 fifties with a best of 262. He also had a stint with South African side Boland.
