Watch! Ben Stokes antics has the cricket fans laughing and tweeting about it

The third and final match of the short T20 series between England and Australia had no bearing. The English with their two 8 run wins in the first two games had taken an unassailable 2-0 lead. The final match at the Manuka Oval at Australia’s capital city of Canberra saw rain wreck havoc before the final game was abandoned. The match did not fail to entertain the fans though and its because of one man and that’s Ben Stokes.

The story as it happened –

England batting first hoped to make it a series clean sweep but their plans were put paid for by the rain gods. During the entire English innings the rain came pelting down to make it a 12 over per game side. Australia won the toss and chose to bowl with David Warner rested for the game. England got Chris Woakes and Mark Wood to replace Chris Jordan and Sam Curran.

Ben Stokes’ overconfidence almost costs him a wicket –

Glenn Maxwell for some reason was bowling with wicket keeper wade standing way back like in case to a seamer. Ben Stokes lofted Maxwell over his head, thinking the ball may be headed for a boundary. Just as he saw the ball hasn’t reached the ropes, Stokes made a bee line for the non-strikers end.

There was more drama and comedy as Stokes in the chance for a 2nd run slipped and fell but got back just in time before Maxwell, could run him out. The entire incident had the world and cricket fans laughing at the comedy show that was on display thanks to Ben Stokes.

England score 112 from 12 overs –

Before the game began it was expected to be a full game but regular rain delays and stoppages meant that the game was a 12 over per side game. Jos Buttler stayed not out with 65 off 41 balls with 7 fours and a six. Alex Hales was out for a duck, last games hero Malan scored 23 while Stokes was not out 17 with one six to help England reach 112.

Australia loses 3 before game gets called off –

Chris Woakes was on fire with the ball as he claimed 2 wickets off the first two balls of the Australian chase. He first had captain Aaron Finch caught by Brook for a first ball duck. Marsh was out next when he was caught by Mark Wood for yet another first baller. Glenn Maxwell opening the innings was out next for 8 when he was caught by Stokes off Woakes. Smith on 7* and Stoinis on 8* were at the crease when the game was called off.
