Watch! Cricket fans on Twitter react to Quinton De Kock’s mistake costing his team runs

Cricket caravan between India and South Africa has moved to Ranchi for the 2nd of the 3 ODI matches. South Africa won the 1st ODI by 9 runs at Lucknow to take a 1-0 lead in the series. India on the other hand came into the game with batting issues which had to be addressed post the loss in the 1st game.

South Africa and India make two changes each–

Keshav Maharaj won the toss and decided to bat first, Maharaj replaced Bavuma as the skipper for the game. Tabriz Shamsi was also left out and they were replaced by Reeza Hendricks and Bjorn Fortuin. India gave a debut cap to Shahbaz Ahmed for Ruturaj Gaikwad, while Ravi Bishnoi was replaced by Washington Sundar.

De Kock’s mistake costs South Africa –

Mohammad Siraj was given the new ball by Shikhar Dhawan and he was bowling to Quinton De Kock who took strike. The first ball was hit for a four, followed by wide ball. 3rd ball of the first over saw more drama as the ball flicked De Kock’s pads and sped to the boundary for a 4. The South Africans weren’t credit any runs because there was no shot offered by the left handed batter.

Siraj and Shahbaz give India early advantage –

Quinton De Kock was the first man out when he went for an expansive drive only to get an inside edge. Siraj roared and jumped in joy as the South African wicket keeper was out for 5. Janneman Malan was the next to go, when he was dismissed by Shahbaz Ahmed for 25. The left arm spinner playing his 1st ODI got the ball to turn sharply and struck Malan on the pads. The umpire, though remained unmoved and ruled it not out. The Indian team went up for DRS and the decision was overturned by the 3rd umpire.

Markram and Hendricks steady South Africa –

At the time of writing, the visitors were 95 for 2 with Aiden Markram batting on 33 and Hendricks on 31. The duo had added 55 for the 3rd wicket with the wicket beginning to look easy for batting.
