India and Zimbabwe are playing the final game of the 3 match ODI series at Harare. The first two games were also played at the same venue on Thursday and Saturday, as India won both the contests. The first game was won by ten wickets, while the 2nd game saw India register a 5 wicket win. With the virtue of this win, the Indians took a 2-0 lead in the series and gave KL Rahul his first series win as the captain of the Indian side. Monday, Rahul won the toss and chose to bat first as Avesh Khan and Deepak Chahar were the only two changes in the side.
Chahar tries to Mankad Zimbabwean batter –
India set Zimbabwe a massive total of 290 to win the game after Shubman Gill had scored an amazing 100. Deepak Chahar who made his return to cricket after 6 months, was playing his 2nd game. Chahar was rested for the 2nd ODI on Saturday as a precautionary measure by the Indian management. On Monday, Chahar did something that reminded fans of R. Ashwin. With Zimbabwean batter backing up too much, Chahar nearly pulled off a Mankad dismissal. This came despite the bowler not giving any prior warning to the batter.
Gill steals the show for India –
Winning the toss and batting first, India made a slow start to the game with KL Rahul and Dhawan opening the batting. Rahul once he found his gear, tried to force the issuew with some lusty hits to the fence. Rahul was dismissed for 30 when he was bowled by Brad Evans. The other Indian opener, Dhawan scored 40 to become Evans 2nd wicket. Kishan and Gill who batted at 4 and 3 for India then added 140 runs for the 3rd wicket before Kishan was run out for 50. Gill though did not stop as he scored his first ODI ton when he scored 130 off 97 balls with 15 fours and a six. India finished at 289 as Brad Evans took the bowling honors with 5 for 54.
