Watch! Jos Buttler falls for a first ball duck on his captaincy debut for England

 

Indian team late on Thursday night were a happy unit as they beat England by 50 runs to go 1-0 in the 3 match T20 series. The match at Southampton saw the Indian team dominate with the bat and ball. The match marked the debut of Jos Buttler as the white ball skipper replacing Eoin Morgan who retired recently. India won the toss and opted to bat first on a wicket full of runs and electric fast outfield. It was a memorable day for Arshdeep Singh too as he became India’s 99th T20 player.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar sends Buttler for a golden duck –

England were faced a stiff target of 199 to win the first T20 at Southampton, and the homeside opened with Buttler and Jason Roy. The 5th ball of the first over saw Bhuvneshwar Kumar pitch one in the line of the stumps. Buttler got an inside edge and was bowled for a first ball duck. This was a bad start to captaincy life for Buttler who had as recently scored over 800 runs for RR.

Indian reach 198 thanks to Hardik Pandya’s 50 –

Rohit Sharma was off the blocks right away with a quick fire 24 before falling to Moeen Ali. Ishan Kishan was wicket number 2 for Ali, before Hooda and SKY took over. Both scored quickfire 30’s to give India the impetus as they were scoring at over 10 runs per over. Hardik Pandya batting at number 5 scored his first T20 half century for India from 30 balls. India finished with 198 for 8 on the board which was unthinkable as many felt India could post 220 on the board.

Hardik Pandya’s day off fun continues with the ball –

Post the early fall of Buttler, the Indian bowlers continued to keep a tight leash on the English batting. Pandya was introduced in the 5th over of the innings and in the 2nd ball he got rid of Dawid Malan for 21, two balls later he had Livingstone caught behind for a duck. Brook and Ali added 61 runs for the 5th wicket and were looking dangerous but the stand was broken by Chahal who got both the batters out. Pandya also got the wickets of Jason Roy and Sam Curran to finish the day with figures of 4/33.

Debut to remember for Arshdeep –

Arshdeep had to wait a long time to make it India debut, but once he got the ball he made himself a name. The 23 year old swung the ball and troubled Jason Roy, towards the end of the innings he picked the wickets of Topley and Parkinson to end with figures of 2/18 from 3.3 overs which also included a maiden over. Harshal picked the wicket of Tymal Mills to end a memorable day for Indian T20 team.
