Ireland and Scotland took on each other in the 2022 T20 World Cup game on Wednesday. This is the 2nd match both the teams are playing in the Group B of qualifying matches. Ireland had lost the first game to Zimbabwe, while Scotland had won the game against West Indies.

Kumar Dharmasena comes in the line of fire –

Joshua little was bowling to Michael Jones in the 5th over of the innings. The batter missed the line of the ball and was hit on his body. Jones still ran for the single as the Irish fielder picked the ball and took a swipe at the stumps. The ball hit the stumps as the batter had made his ground. The ball though hit umpire Kumar Dharmasena on his foot. The former Sri Lanka spinner put up a brave smile after getting hit.

Scotland put up a strong show with the bat –

Winning the toss and choosing to bat 1st, Scotland lost George Munsey for 1 LBW to Mark Adair. The 2nd wicket pair of Jones and Cross added 59 before Cross was out for 28 off 21 balls. Skipper Berrington scored 37 as he added 77 for the 3rd wicket, Berrington hit 3 fours and a six in his 27 balls stay.

Michael Jones was the top scorer for Scotland when he scored 86 off 55 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Scotland scored 176 for 5 from their 20 overs, with Curtis Campher picking 2 wickets. Little and Adair picked a wicket each with Ireland using 7 bowlers.

Must win game for Ireland –

Ireland lost their first game on Monday to Zimbabwe to begin their tournament with a loss. The Irish had to win to Wednesday to keep their hopes alive to make it through to the Super 12 stage. Win for Scotland on then other hand would have put their one foot into the super 12 stage.
