Watch! Sehwag lands himself in trouble with a comment on Kohli as Twitter users lambast him

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag during his time was known to flay the bowlers to all parts of the ground. Sehwag was known to be a dare devil batsman who took on all bowlers despite their names. Post his retirement, Sehwag has become a commentator and cricket expert, his commentary in Hindi has been praised by one and all. Sehwag also has a cult following on twitter for his funny messages and birthday wishes. The former India opener landed himself in trouble for his comments on Kohli on Sunday.

Sehwag calls Kohli a Chamiya –

The incident in question took place when Siraj got rid of Broad for 1 after he went for a wild slog and was caught by Pant. The cameras spotted Kohli doing a dance in his happiness at the fall of the wicket. This is where one commentator mentioned “Kohli ka dance dekhiye” (Check out Kohli’s dance). To which Sehwag said “Chamiya naach rahi hai”. The world chamiya is considered cheap and crass and objectionable. It is a word used by hoodlums to make a pass at a girl in a rather inappropriate way. This comment from Sehwag left the fans furious.

Fans vent their ire on Sehwag –

The comment from Sehwag did not go down well with the fans as they called for the Broadcaster Sony Sports India to sack Sehwag. The fans took to twitter to have their say and everyone put out an angry tweet for Sehwag to use such a word for Kohli who is one of the best players India has produced after Sachin Tendulkar.  Many called for the head of Sehwag and termed his comments poor after watching and hearing what they saw and heard on Sunday during the England’s first innings.

Sehwag had a go at Kohli earlier too –

Sehwag had cracked up the Indian fans earlier in the day when he tweeted how Kohli’s barbs at Bairstow had changed him. Sehwag had tweeted that after Kohli sledged Bairstow he went from Pujara to Pant and put the Indian bowlers to the sword.

One hopes Sehwag realizes that some words aren’t fun and it isn’t always fun and games when we speak , specially in the world we now live in.
