Watch! Shikhar Dhawan’s masterstroke gets India a huge wicket as Netizens react

India began their home season post the IPL with a T20 series against South Africa at New Delhi. The venue and opposition was the same as India ends their white ball season with the 3rd and final ODI. Both the teams came into the game with the series locked at 1-1. South Africa won the first game at Lucknow as India levelled the series on Sunday with a 7 wicket win at Ranchi.

The story as it happened –

The game saw a slight delay in start as overnight rain had seen the outfield take damage. India won the toss and put South Africa into bat, as David Miller was captaining the side. Miller was the 3rd captain in 3 games as Maharaj had fallen sick and regular skipper Bavuma still wasn’t fit.

Dhawan’s clever field placing gets India a huge wicket –

South Africa had lost the wicket of Quinton De Kock for 6 when he was caught by Avesh Khan off Sundar for 6. Malan was starting to look good when Siraj started to bowl short to him. Shikhar Dhawan placed a fielder deep on the leg side boundary, and one such short ball was the downfall for Malan.

The South African opener pulled a short ball by Siraj and saw Avesh Khan take an easy catch to send back Malan for 15. Siraj let out a huge roar of happiness and joy at the well worked wicket. Malan hit 3 fours in his 27 ball vigil and from there it was all downhill for the visitors.

South Africa bundled out for 99 –

South African batters did not know what hit them as the Indian bowlers did not let them off the leash. Kuldeep Yadav picked 4 wickets with the ball as Siraj, Sundar and Shahbaz picked 2 wickets each. Klassen was the top scorer for the visiting side with 34 off 42 balls with 4 fours.
