Watch! Shoaib Akhtar’s prediction about Jasprit Bumrah year ago goes viral

India on Thursday were dealt a huge blow just ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022. The men in blue have lost the services of their ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. India will miss the right arm fast bowler as he suffered a back injury which is likely to see him miss 4-6 months of cricketing action. This injury was the reason why Bumrah, did not play the game against South Africa on Wednesday.

The story as it happened –

Jasprit Bumrah was just making a comeback after nearly being out for more than a month and a half. Bumrah was rested for the tour of West Indies and Zimbabwe before making a comeback for the Australia series. Bumrah had missed the 1st game at Mohali, but played the next two games at Nagpur and Hyderabad.

Shoaib Akhtar had made a massive statement about Bumrah an year ago –

When we speak about fast bowling and the injuries that come along with it, there is no one better than Shoaib Akhtar as an example. The former Pakistani fast bowler had a spate of injuries during his career. Akhtar while speaking to Vikrant Gupta of India Today group had foreseen this issues. Akhtar had said “ players with that action bowl with their backs and shoulder speed. We used to side-on and that is a compensation. Front action has no compensation and with that action, when the back blows out, you cant escape it irrespective of how much you can try”.

Akhtar had suggested how team India should utilize Bumrah –

Bumrah made an immediate impact on his return with 2 wickets at Nagpur in the rain curtailed game. At Hyderabad last Sunday, the 28 year was off color when he was smashed for 50 runs from his 4 wicketless overs. The former Pakistani bowling ace had warned BCCI an year ago as well. Akhtar had suggested how to use Bumrah and beware of his injury issues. Akhtar had said “Bumrah must take an off and attend rehab after playing 1 match. If you play him every match, in 1 year, he will completely break down. Play him 3 matches out of 5 and take him out. Bumrah will have to manage this one thing if he wants to last forever”
