Watch! Sri Lankan players suffer nasty collision during the final ODI against India
India and Sri Lanka came into the final ODI at Kerala which was played on Sunday. India had already won the series after their win at Kolkata during the 2nd ODI. The series began with a 3 match T20 series with India winning with a 2-1 margin under Hardik Pandya. It was an important start to the season with a huge ICC Cricket World Cup scheduled later this year.
The story so far –
India won the toss and chose to bat first as a warm and sunny day at Kerala welcome the 2 teams. India bought in Surya Kumar Yadav and Washington Sundar in place of Hardik Pandya and Umran Malik. Sri Lanka made two changes as Jeffrey Vandersay and Ashen Bhandara came into the team.
Terrible collision leaves two Sri Lankan players taken off the ground –
The situation in question happened in the 5th ball of the 43rd over which was bowled by Chamika Karunaratne. Kohli batting on 95, played the ball towards the mid-wicket and square leg region. Bhandara and Vandersay both made their way to stop the ball from going for a 4. The two had a nasty collision as both the players suffered injuries and were taken off the ground. Both the Indian and Sri Lankan medical teams came out to have a look at the players.
Gill scores his 2nd ODI ton –
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the batting and added 95 for the 1st wicket with both the batters looking to be aggressive. Rohit was out for 42 off 49 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Rohit mistimed a half pull half scoop off Karunaratne to give the visitors their 1st wicket.
Shubman Gill then scored his 2nd ODI ton as he scored 116 off 97 balls with 14 fours and 2 sixes. Gill played some amazing shots to leave the fans amazed with the silky timing .
Kohli gets to his 46th ODI ton –
Kohli who began the series with a century has ended it with a century as he got to his 46th ODI ton in the 43rd over. At the time of writing Kohli was batting on 126 off 94 balls with 11 fours and 4 sixes as India were 333/2 in the 46th over.
