Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of the most loved and widely followed teams because of the star players that they possess in their side. The team which is led by Indian captain Virat Kohli and has the likes of AB De Villiers in their side will make any side quake in their boots but the team from Bangalore has been prone to implosion during the tournament and has missed out the silverware twice in 2011 and 2016. Their quest for the first IPL title is still ongoing and former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has suggested an underrated name that could make a difference for RCB this year.

According to former Indian opener Aakash Chopra the RCB franchise should make a bid for Karnataka player Karun Nair. Nair has played for RCB in the 2012-13 seasons where he got to play just two games in the 2013 edition with Nair scoring just nine runs. He then moved to Rajasthan royals then Delhi Daredevils finally moving to Kings Xi Punjab. Nair was let go by Punjab before the IPL auctions and will go into the auction pool later this month.

The former Indian player Aakash Chopra said that if RCB happens to pick Karun Nair he will add solidity to the middle order and give the batting order the required depth. Coupled with the fact that Karun Nair is well versed with the condition of Chinnaswamy Stadium he could prove to be a huge trump card for Virat Kohli in his quest for the first ever IPL title for RCB.

Karun Nair’s IPL Journey

Karun Nair has been an IPL regular since 2012 when he first played for RCB his main claim to fame came during his stint for Rajasthan Royals under Rahul Dravid. In the 73 IPL games that Nair has played he has scored 1480 runs with 10 half centuries at a strike of 128.
