Indian Cricket: Rahul Dravid spills beans on Virat Kohli’s lunch menu during Delhi Test

 

India beat Australia by 6 wickets to win the 2nd test and take a 2-0 lead in the series. With this win, India have not only gone one step closer to final of the World Test Championships, but also retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

It was a clinical performance by Indian spinners as they Jadeja and Ashwin shared all ten wickets between them. India again romped home to an easy win before Tea on day the 3rd day just like they had done in the 1st test at Nagpur.

The Story as it happened –

Virat Kohli was the focus of attention as he was playing a test match at his home ground after 5 years. The former India skipper was cheered for his every move during his knock of 44 before falling LBW to Matthew Kuhnemann. The focus of the fans was on a viral clip which was doing the rounds as Kohli looked happy to get his meals served to him.

Rahul Dravid reveals what was on the menu –

Indian coach Rahul Dravid was a happy man as he saw his team take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. The 50 year old was asked what was being served to Virat Kohli in the dressing room. The Indian coach was quick to reply with a laugh and said “ It wasn't Chole Bhature, it was Kulcha Chole. He was tempting me with it, but I said I'm 50 years old, I can't handle so much cholesterol anymore”

Australia lose the plot to be bowled out for 113 –

Australia began the day at 61/1 with an overall lead of 62. Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne had looked to take the attack to the Indian bowlers at the end of 2nd day. Ashwin struck first when he had Head out for 43 caught behind by Bharat.

Labuschagne played down the wrong line when he was bowled by Jadeja for 35 off 50 balls. At that time the score was 85/2  but from there the Australians were all out for 113. The visitors lost their last 8 wickets for 28 runs as India bowled them out in 1 session.

Jadeja claims career best figures –

It was an amazing day for Ravindra Jadeja as he took 7/42 which was his best figures in test cricket. He bettered his previous best of 7/48 against England at Chennai in 2016. Jadeja had got the 1st wicket late on 2nd day when he had Khawaja out for 6.

On Sunday his first wicket was Labuschagne before he removed Handscomb and Cummins in successive balls. Jadeja then got rid of Alex Carey to get his 5th before getting the wickets of Lyon for 8 and Kuhnemann for a duck to bowl out Australia for 113.

India wins by 6 wickets –

Chasing 114 to win, KL Rahul was out for 1 before Rohit Sharma scored a breezy 20 ball 31. The Indian captain was run out as India lost the wickets of Kohli for 20 and Shreyas Iyer for 12. Pujara with 31* and Bharat with 20* saw the team home with 6 wickets in hand in the 27th over with 7 sessions left in the game.
