Indian Cricket: Wasim Jaffer names this player as perfect replacement for Surya Kumar Yadav in the final ODI

In just under 24 hours, India will take on Australia in the final ODI at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. The series is tied at 1-1 after Australia’s dominating performance in the 2nd ODI on Sunday. Australia won the game by ten wickets with 39 overs to spare, after bowling out India for mere 117. The first game was won by India on Friday at Mumbai by 5 wickets.

The Story so far –

Surya Kumar Yadav has been in abysmal form with the bat so far, recording two first ball ducks in back to back games. Yadav was out on both occasions to Mitchell Starc in the similar fashion. Starc had the 32 year old out LBW with the ball coming back. The constant failures in the ODI format has had the fans and experts questioning Yadav’s place in the ODI format.

Wasim Jaffer suggests Sanju Samson as the perfect replacement –

Former Indian opener, Wasim Jaffer wants Sanju Samson to play the final ODI at Chennai. Jaffer while speaking to ESPN CRICINFO said“ We have to see if the management sticks with him in the third ODI otherwise it’s not a bad option to give Sanju Samson a chance because he has played well when given the opportunity and he is a good player”

Jaffer wishes for more application from SKY –

Surya Kumar Yadav had a brilliant 2022 in the T20 format and began the year with a bang with the bat. Yadav made his test debut during the recent Border Gavaskar series and played just one game.

Jaffer though said that after playing a few years of top level cricket, Yadav should have anticipated the bowling of Starc. Jaffer said this to ESPN CRICINFO “We might sympathize with Suryakumar Yadav as the first ball that he faced was of 145 clicks. No doubt that it’s challenging when a left-arm seamer tries to bring the ball back in. Again, he should have anticipated that when Mitchell Starc bowls, he will attack the stumps and might swing the ball”
