IPL 2023: Watch! MS Dhoni doesn’t sign a autograph for Deepak Chahar leaving fans in splits
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was a smiling man and was washed with emotions as Chennai won their 5th title. The final saw Chennai Super Kings win the title off the last ball in a dramatic final beating defending champions Gujarat Titans. Ravindra Jadeja was the star of the show as he swung Mohit Sharma for a four and six off the last two balls. The end of the game saw some really amazing scenes as the Chennai players and their families celebrated with each other.
MS Dhoni refuses to sign Deepak Chahar’s shirt –
After Chennai had confirmed their status as the champions, there was a moment that left everyone laughing. Deepak Chahar made his way to MS Dhoni and bought out a pen and asked him to sign his shirt. The CSK captain was quick to refuse the request as he was seen chatting with Rajiv Shukla during the post game moments.
MS Dhoni exhibits his reason for not signing the shirt –
One of the biggest reasons for MS Dhoni’s playful displeasure was the fact that Deepak Chahar had dropped Shubman Gill. The 23 year old was on 3 when Chahar grassed an easy chance at square leg. The chance gone abegging could have been costly as he looked dangerous before falling for 39. Gill had scored a ton against Mumbai after he was dropped by Tim David when Gill was on 30 in the 2nd qualifier last Friday.
In the end as they all’s well that ends well and Deepak Chahar did get his jersey signed. The Chennai Skipper after demonstrating his displeasure was quick to sign Chahar’s CSK shirt before walking off while giving the 30 year old a cold glare perhaps in jest.
One more season for MS Dhoni –
The presentation ceremony may have started way past in the late hours of Sunday night or Monday morning. The fans though were tuned in and the wait was worth it. Before taking the title, MS Dhoni said while he would have called time on his IPL career, the love shown by the fans made him decide to play 1 more year. MS Dhoni struggling with knee injury told Harsha Bhogle he will do everything possible to make it to TATA IPL 2024 and play his final season for Chennai Super Kings.
