CricketCult was proud to host former English international Owais Shah for a live interaction where he gave his views on variety of topics relevant to the English and the Indian teams. As the countdown begins for the huge marquee series between the two giant nations, the English team is coming on the back of a 2-0 series win in Sri Lanka where they dominated both the test matches and Joe Root and the spin twins of Dom Bess and Jack Leach played a vital role. The Indian team too is coming on the back of the monumental series against Australia in Australia.

Owais Shah has his view on the Pant versus Saha Debate

During the course of the interaction the former England batsman Owais Shah was asked to give his view on the Rishabh Pant versus Wriddhiman Saha debate and who he would pick as the number one wicketkeeper for India in the series Owais Shah said that he would pick Rishabh Pant after his two blockbuster knocks during the tour of Australia and it is impossible that he would drop the 23 year old in favor of Saha even though the latter is considered to be good wicket keeper to spinners.  Shah advised Pant to work more on his wicket keeping and get better behind the stumps

Owais Shah throws more light on Rishabh Pant’s potential role against the English

Rishabh Pant who is the toast of the nation following his exploits during the last two test matches against Australia at SCG and Brisbane was praised by former England international Owais Shah for his batting and his knocks during the final two tests. Shah doesn’t see the Indian team without the talents of Rishabh Pant during the test matches versus the visiting English and felt that he has done enough to warrant a place as a first choice wicket keeper instead of 36 year old Wriddhiman Saha possibly terming it as an end of the road for the wicket keeper from Bengal. Stating his point further Shah opined this is the best time to back Pant because failure to do so will push the player into the corner and will kick in defence mechanism. He said the backing has to be a two Way Street as both the team and the player need each other to perform better on a consistent basis.
