Ravichandran Ashwin finally discloses what he went through after pulling out of IPL 2021
India has been facing the grave Coronavirus situation with the second wave proving to be more difficult and dangerous than the first which was witnessed last year. The Indian people have been seeing the worst of times as far as the medical infrastructure is concerned and the growing number of cases every-day. This has not only posed a major challenge physically but also mentally as many have either seen their near and dear ones perish to the virus or test positive for the same. Star Indian off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin recently came out and spoke about the ordeal he went through.
The story as it happened –
Ravichandran Ashwin who has been playing IPL for Delhi Capitals dealt a major blow to the team and its fans when he pulled out of the tournament due to the coronavirus situation which had struck his family. The 34 year old came out to speak about his ordeal he went through at that point as it had a great impact on his mental health. Ashwin said “Almost everyone from my place had got affected due to COVID. In fact, a few of my cousins also got admitted and were serious and they somehow recovered. I couldn’t sleep for almost 8-9 days. Since I couldn’t sleep, it was really stressful for me. I was playing matches without getting any sleep. And since I found it really taxing, I had to quit IPL and go home midway. In fact, when I left, around that time, I had thoughts on whether I will be able to play cricket thereafter. But still, I did what was required at that point of time”
Ashwin the vital cog in the wheel for Virat Kohli –
Ravichandran Ashwin who recently became the fastest Indian and the second fastest to reach the 400 wicket mark in test match cricket will be a huge player for Virat Kohli on the long tour of England where the Indian team will play the world test championship final against New Zealand and also the five match test series against England which is to start from the month of August till September. Virat Kohli will hope the 34 year old Chennai lad continues his good form with the ball and also contributes with the bat as a huge season of international cricket awaits India. The Delhi franchise too will be looking to have Ashwin back into the fold as the resumption of IPL will give the Delhi team a proper crack at landing their first ever IPL title with Ashwin possibly playing a huge role.
