The Indian team which is on a high of winning the MCG test yesterday and squaring the series at one game apiece will now take a well-earned break and enjoy the festivities of the New Year and then go to Sydney to prepare for the all-important third test match of the Border-Gavaskar trophy which is finely poised. The Indian team got a huge morale boost with the return of Indian batsman Rohit Sharma after a lengthy injury hiatus. The star opening batsman came back into the Indian fold and was given a huge welcome by his teammates at Melbourne.

The story as it developed 

Rohit Sharma who has not seen a minute of the action for the Indian team since the T-20 series in New Zealand missed the subsequent test series against the black caps. Then game then saw a stop due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, once cricket resumed Rohit Sharma led his Mumbai Indians to a fifth IPL title in UAE, during the course of the IPL he suffered an injury even though he played the playoffs and the finals he was ruled out of the ODI and T-20 squad which played in Australia. His fitness was a huge cause of discussion and finally, he was passed fit and he traveled to Australia where he missed the second test because of being in Bio-bubble as per the COVID protocols.

A Timely return for Rohit 

The BCCI recently shared a video of the Indian opener being greeted by his teammates on Twitter which read “Look who’s joined the squad in Melbourne. A warm welcome for @ImRo45 as he joins the team”. Indian coach Ravi Shastri was one of the welcoming members when he asked Rohit How was quarantine my friend? You’re looking young”

Rohit Sharma future participation in the test series 

As per the speculations in the Indian media Rohit Sharma could be part of the third test match at Sydney and could replace either Mayank Agarwal as the opener or Hanuma Vihari in the number position. The star batsman will just be the boost the Indian team requires to solidify its batting in the absence of Virat Kohli.
