India lost the 3rd test to Australia early on Friday by 9 wickets while defending mere 76 runs. Australian pair of Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne won the game got the scoreline down to 2-1. The final game of the series is to be played at Ahmedabad starting on Thursday 9th March.

Australia won the 3rd test just before Lunch on day 3. With this win, Australia have confirmed their place in the finals of the World Test Championships. India on the other hand have to win the final test to make the place in the finals to be played at the Oval.

Mohammad Siraj shares water with a young fan –

Indore was awarded the hosting rights for the 3rd test after it was found Dharamsala wasn’t fit to host the game. During the course of the Australian batting, a young fan was seemingly thirsty. Mohammad Siraj asked the ball boy to fetch him a cold bottle of water and threw it to the fan. This video of Siraj has not only gone viral, but also won the hearts of billion cricket fans

Australia lose early wicket –

Chasing 76 to win, Australia strode out to the middle with Khawaja and Head opening the batting. Ravi Ashwin got the edge of Khawaja’s bat and sent the Australian walking back for a 2nd ball duck. This gave early jitters to the visiting batters as they would have expected to win the game by 10 wickets.

Head and Labuschagne power their way to an easy win –

After playing 10 watchful overs, Australia then began their assault as they runs at over 6 runs per over. Travis Head began the assault with one four and one six during 1 over from Ashwin. Head was not out on 49 off 53 balls with 6 fours and a six. Labuschagne was not out on 28 from 28 balls with 6 fours as Australia took home a 9 wicket win.

India meanwhile have a lot to ponder, as they head to Ahmedabad for the final test match. India needs to win the game and take the series 3-1 in a bid to make it to the WTC finals in June. Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid will hope this is a blip in the armor and will want to be better prepared for the final test at Ahmedabad.
