Young Indian leg spinner could be called up for the T20 series against England
The test series was a roller coaster ride for the Indian team and the fans that were hooked on it right from the start to the finish of a series that had action aplenty. The Indian team now shifts their focus to the white ball format against the dangerous Eoin Morgan-led England side which has been flying high in the 50 over and T20 formats for a while now. The Indian fans will also be waiting to see the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back in the Blue. One young player could be given a call up to the national squad due to the fitness suffered before the start of the T20 series.
Rahul Chahar likely to get called up
21-year-old Rahul Chahar who has played one T20 international for India against West Indies and has been part of the Mumbai Indians squad which won the IPL twice in a row could be given a call up after Varun Chakravarthy and Rahul Tewatia failed their fitness tests ahead of the T20 series against England which starts on Friday 12th March, 2021 to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium at Ahmedabad.
Fitness Issues plague Varun Chakravarthy and Rahul Tewatia
KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy and RR’s Rahul Tewatia had been given a call up for the series against England, while this was Rahul Tewatia’s first call up to the Indian squad but this is the second time that fitness issues has plagued Varun Chakravarthy after he missed the T20 series away against Australia late last year.
India play England in a five-game T20 series with all the games played at Ahmedabad starting on Friday and then move to Pune for a 3 game ODI series post which they move on to the IPL.
