Rishabh Pant is one of the most valued and viewed player’s of the current era. The 23 year old seems to have finally found his footing in the Indian team after 3 years of uncertainty and indifferent form. Pant roared back to form with a great performance with the bat against the Australian team in their home patch and won the Indians their second ever series down under. The test match against England, Pant has shown some improvement with the gloves and has sidelined Wriddhiman Saha on the back of his performances of late. Rishabh Pant though steals the limelight for his comments behind the stumps and ever since the 201819 tour of Australia he has got a separate fan base for his comments behind the stumps.

Playing with Washington Sundar’s name

The first test at Chennai had the Indian fans frustrated with Joe Root getting stuck into the Indian bowling but the saving grace was Rishabh Pant who was comical with his remarks behind the stumps. At one point he was heard saying “mera naam hai Washington mujhko Jana hai DC” which had the fans in humorous delight.

Keeping the bowler’s spirits up during the second test at Chennai

Kuldeep Yadav was in pressure when he came on to bowl in the second innings of the second Chennai test and the youngster had the captain and slip fielders egging him on. Rishabh Pant was setting the field for him and helping him by guiding the right lengths to bowl.

Spelling Axar Patel with an accent

Axar Patel has found himself at home in test cricket by dismantling the English batsmen with his penetrative spin bowling. The 27 year old would have found it funny to have heard his name spelt “Axar Pachel” in a more foreign tone and twang by the 23 year old wicket keeper.

Spiderman rendition behind the stumps

Sometimes one believes Rishabh Pant can even surprise himself with the comments he makes behind the stumps. During the tough tour of Australia the final test match at Brisbane saw Rishabh Pant sinning “Spiderman tune churya mere dil ka chain” which became an instant classic. Not to be outdone he was seen hilariously arguing with captain Ajinkya Rahane to go up for a DRS call and was promptly mocked by Rohit Sharma at slips, even pujara couldn’t suppress a smile.

Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant part Two

Axar Patel would have been a nervous wreck ahead of his test debut during the second test match at Chennai as he had missed the first game due to injury, but the 27 year old had the safety cushion of Rishabh Pant who was encouraging the debutant from behind the stumps with his funny comments which would have relaxed “Axar Pachel” a lot. Perhaps that was a dig at the English? Only Pant can answer that.
