Chennai Super Kings sign a replacment player for Adam Milne

AM

Chennai Super Kings get set to play their 7th game of the season on Thursday against Mumbai Indians. The two rivals are at the bottom of the table with CSK in 9th and MI in 10th. It hasn’t been a good season for the defending champions as they have lost 5 games and won just one game. To add more misery to the bad form on the field, the men in yellow have lost some crucial players. They first lost their main bowler in Deepak Chahar for the whole season. Few days ago it came to light that Kiwi fast bowler Adam Milne has also been ruled out for the whole season.

Chennai Super Kings make a mid-season singing –

After the loss of Adam Milne, Chennai Super Kings have signed young Sri Lankan Matheesha Pathirana as a replacement player. The 19 year old has been likened to Lasith Malinga for his slingy action and can bowl at good speeds. The official handle of IPL released a statement which read “ Chennai Super Kings have signed Matheesa Pathirana as a replacement player for New Zealand pacer Adam Milne for the TATA IPL 2022 season. Milne suffered a hamstring injury in CSK’s 1st match versus KKR and has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament”

Who is Matheesa Pathirana ?

Pathirana is a 19 year old fast bowler from Sri Lanka whose bowling action is similar to the Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga. He can bowl at above 140 KPH, and he is also deadly bowler towards the back end of the innings. He also possesses a deadly yorker much like his idol Malinga.

Big game for CSK on Thursday –

CSK face off against Traditional rivals Mumbai Indians in the Thursday game at the DY Patil stadium. The two teams are on the brink of elimination with a loss on Thursday confirming their ouster from the IPL. CSK have won just a single game against RCB, and have lost all 5 games. The loss of Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne has come at the wrong time as Chennai are struggling with their fast bowling resources. Ravindra Jadeja will hope the youngster can put some life into the CSK bowling unit.
