BCCI on Sunday, announced the team for the T20 series against South Africa as well as the team for the final test against England. Some of the senior members of the squad like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested, while KL Rahul has been named the captain of the side, with Pant as his deputy. One of the players who missed the selection bus was young left handed batsman Nitish Rana. The batsman from Delhi who plays for KKR got his maiden Indian call up during the July tour of Sri Lanka. Nitish Rana took to twitter and wrote “Things are about to change soon”. He put the Indian flag and a icon of target after the tweet, which meant he is targeting an India call up.

Nitish Rana’s 2022 season and IPL numbers in general –
Nitish Rana was released at the end of the 2021 season and was re-picked by KKR during the 2022 auctions. Rana began his IPL stint with Mumbai Indians before moving east to KKR. This year he played 14 games for the two time champs and scored 361 runs with the bat. He scored 2 half centuries and had an average of 27 and a strike rate of 143. In total Rana has played 91 games in the IPL and scored 2181 runs with an average of 28 and a career strike rate of 134. He has 15 half centuries and a best of 87.
Indian team for the T20 series against South Africa –
India and South Africa are set to lock horns against each other in a short 5 game T20 series which begins on 9th June. The Indian team will be led by KL Rahul and the vice captain will be Rishabh Pant. Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik make a comeback to the side after their brilliant showing during the IPL. Ravi Bishnoi, Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are the 3 spinners. Ruturaj Gaikwad is expected to open the innings with Rahul, while Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda and Venkatesh Iyer kept their places. Shikhar Dhawan’s exclusion was puzzling as the veteran was speculated to be given the captaincy.
