Watch! KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya’s angry exchange with the umpire

TATA IPL 2022 is down to three teams from the possible 4 which played the play-offs. Lucknow Super Giants were knocked out of the tournament after they lost RCB in the first eliminator. It was a sad end to the tournament for LSG, despite playing some amazing cricket through the course of the season. Captain KL Rahul was at loss for words at the end of the game, while mentor Gautam Gambhir looked downcast and shocked. LSG though were embroiled in a controversy during the course of the match when RCB was batting.

Krunal Pandya and KL Rahul have a word with the umpire about the no-ball –

The incident happened in the 12th over of the RCB’s innings as Rajat Patidar was batting and just reached his half century. The first ball of the 12th over was bowled by Dushmanta Chameera and he bowled a full toss above the waist height. Krunal Pandya was the first to demonstrate with the umpire Madanagopal, in a classic tea pot pose. It was followed by KL Rahul walking up to the umpire and asking about the call. The confusion was cleared when it came to light that, square leg umpire Michael Gough had called it a no ball.

Sad end to the tournament for LSG –

Going into the game, everyone felt that LSG had the edge over RCB as they had played some amazing cricket. LSG won the toss and decided to bowl first and what followed was some of the best batting of the tournament. Rajat Patidar scored an impressive 112 not out to steer RCB to 207. Chasing 208 was never going to be easy against this RCB bowling line up which had Hazlewood, Hasaranga and Harshal Patel. KL Rahul stood like a rock to 79 but the target was always going to be beyond LSG who fell short by 14 runs.  KL Rahul and his team including mentor Gautam Gambhir looked glum after the loss, which denied them a game against RR in the 2nd eliminator of the tournament on Friday. KL Rahul at the end of the game said I think it’s quite obvious – the reasons why we didn’t win. We let ourselves down in the field. Dropping easy catches never helps. Difference was obviously Patidar playing such a knock. When someone in the top three scores a hundred, more often the team wins. They fielded really well and we were poor”
