The 2nd test between England and Pakistan is headed down to the wire at Multan heading into the 4th day. Pakistan need 157 runs while England need 6 wickets as the fast moving test match is already on to its climax.

The match has seen some amazing cricket from both the sides with the bat and ball during the first 3 days of the game. Now it is the match up between the unpredictable Pakistani middle order and ever resilient English bowling as the game heads into the 4th day.

The story so far –

England had ended the 2nd day at 202 with a lead of 281 as Harry Brook and Ben Stokes were at the crease. The Pakistani bowlers bowled out England for 275 to limit the lead to 354.

Joe Root accurately shows where the ball had pitched –

Babar Azam walked into bat with the hopes of his nation on his shoulder. Ollie Robinson has had Azam’s number this series. The pacer had dismissed the Pakistani captain in the 1st innings as well. In the 2nd innings, Robinson got the ball to come back a long way inside and knock the poles of Babar Azam to leave him stunned.

This had Pakistan in trouble at 67/2, but the drama was far from over. Robinson tried to show that the ball had pitched way outside off stump. This prompted Joe Root to point the exact place where the ball had pitched to the English bowler. The entire English team and the fans were in awe of the accurate prediction by Joe Root.

Harry Brook century helps England to a lead of 354 –

Starting the day at 202, the English team saw Ben Stokes the first to fall with the score reading 256. The English captain had added 101 for the 6th wicket with Brook as he holed out to Mohammad Ali off Nawaz. Abrar Ahmed and Zahid Mahmood then mopped up the tail.

The day though belonged to young Harry Brook who scored his 2nd test ton, which was also his 2nd on this tour. Brook was the 9th batter to fall scoring 108 off 149 balls with 14 fours and a six. Abrar Ahmed was the lead wicket taker again with 4/120 to take his match figures 11/234 on debut.

Rizwan and Shafique lead Pakistan to strong start before losing 2 wickets in a hurry –

Pakistan opener with Mohammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique as Imam Ul Haq was injured. The pair added 66 for the 1st wicket in 16 overs as both of them showed their aggressive intent. James Anderson did the trick as he castled Rizwan for 30 before Robinson got Babar Azam for 1.

Imam and Shakeel fight back with 108 run stand –

With the score reading 83 and Shafique on 45, he was bowled by Mark Wood to leave the home team at 83 for 3. That’s when Saud Shakeel and Imam Ul Haq combined forces to add 108 for the 4th wicket. Both the batters showed caution as they milked the English bowling and hitting the bad balls away. Imam Scored 60 before falling to Leach caught by Joe Root.

Shakeel and Ashraf hold fort-

Pakistan ended the day at 198/4 with Saud Shakeel batting on 54 off 123 balls with 5 fours and Ashraf of 3. The home team needs a further 157 runs with 6 wickets in hand and two full days to go.
