West Indian Test Cricket has been seeing a see-saw slide as the once feared Caribbean got down to play Australia. The 1st test of the series between the two age old rivals was played at the Perth Stadium at Perth.

Australia won the toss and chose to bat first and ended the day at 293/2 thanks to a superlative ton by Marnus Labuschagne. The home team also pressed on to the advantage thanks to 65 by Usman Khwaja and 59 not out by Steve Smith.

Jason Holder bowls a ripper to leave Marnus Labuschagne stunned –

The visitors took the 2nd new ball towards the fag end of day 1 with Australians in firm command. Jason Holder, the former skipper was bowling another one of his tireless spells.

Holder bowling the final over of the day, bowled the new cherry on the off stump line. The ball held its line till it had Labuschagne in a bit of trouble in the last moment to move away a tad bit.

Commentators and batter left shocked with the ball –

The ball was such a beauty that the on air commentators could only gasp and groan at the ball missing the edge of the bat. Marnus Labuschagne was heard on the stump mic saying “Oh Jason that’s a delicious ball”.

The West Indians too couldn’t believe the ball did not take the nick of the bat to give them some joy towards the end of the day. Holder, bowled 16 overs giving away 29 runs and bowled 6 maiden overs but wasn’t lucky enough to pick a wicket.

More trouble ahead for the West Indian bowlers –

Australia ended the 1st day on a comfortable 293 for the loss of openers Warner for 5 and Khawaja for 65. Labuschagne is on 154 along with Smith who is on 59 as the home team look good to post a huge score on day 2.

The West Indian bowlers, namely Jayden Seales and Kyle Mayers picked the 2 wickets to fall. The pitch doesn’t have much on it for the bowlers as the score of 450-500 looks on the table. If the visitors do not pick early wickets then Australia could well run way away with the game on the 2nd day on Thursday.
