TATA Indian Premier League 2023 season has officially reached its half way stage of the tournament. The game on Tuesday saw, 5 time champions Mumbai Indians take on Gujarat Titans who are the defending champions. Both the teams came into the game with contrasting results in their previous game. Gujarat Titans had pulled off an heist by beating Lucknow in a close game. Mumbai on the other hand, had lost to Punjab Kings in a high scoring at home on Saturday night.
The story so far –
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, won the toss and chose to bowl. There were two changes for the visiting Mumbai side. Hrithik Shokeen and Jofra Archer were out as Kumar Kartikeya and Riley Meredith made their way to the XI. A win for the home team will propel them up the table, while a Mumbai win will keep them in the hunt for a place in the final 4.
Saha takes review after the clock runs out –
Shubman Gill strode out to the middle along with discarded veteran India wicket keeper Wriddhiman Saha. The 1st ball of the 3rd over saw Arjun Tendulkar bowl short down the leg side to Saha as the Gujarat opener went for a pull.
Ishan Kishan and Arjun Tendulkar went up for a huge appeal as the umpire put his finger up. There was a huge wait but much to everyone’s surprise Saha went for the DRS once the timer had run down. Despite taking the DRS the 3rd umpire ruled Saha out.
Shubman Gill scores a masterful half century –
Despite the loss of Saha, the young opener from Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill was showing his silky touch. Gill, was out for a duck in the last game but on Tuesday he was showing every shot in the book. The 23 year old was out for 56 off 34 balls with 7 fours and a six.
Twitter reacts –
Once the entire controversy happened, the fans took to Twitter and asked if Saha taking the DRS was allowed. You can read all the tweets by the fans below.

Time was clearly up before Saha took that review,Umpires shouldn't have allowed that.

This is why one should play their employees on time and change them if they're incompetent.#GTvMI #IPL2023 #CricketTwitter
Not sure how the review was allowed. GT ends up losing Saha and the review 🙃

Two things not right with this Saha review
— Ajay Srinivasan (@Ajaychairman) April 25, 2023
1. He must have definitely known that he gloved it. Shouldn't hv reviewed it.
2. He reviewed after the DRS timer ended. Umpire should hv not sent it upstairs saying time has lapsed.#GTvMI
saha took the review after 15 seconds n then people say Ambani buys umpire s
— Sharim Almaas (@sharim10iam) April 25, 2023
Didn’t Saha just review that after the 15-second limit ?
— Sarvesh🏏 (@CricAspect) April 25, 2023
He just wasted a review for his team as well
Terrible review that from Saha. #IPL2023

U can really see clock ticked and exceeded 15 sec. Still Saha was allowed to take that review. If it had been MI this would have been turned into huge issue
— Ujjawal Raj (@barcablood_uzwl) April 25, 2023
Wriddhiman Saha was allowed a review after the timer was over.🙄

And some idiots accuse Ambani and Mumbai Indians of buying umpires.#GTvsMI
