TATA Indian Premier League 2023 finally has the two teams that will play the summit clash. The big game on Sunday will see 4 time champions Chennai Super Kings take on Gujarat Titans for the 4th time this season. Shubman Gill was the star of the night as he scored an imperious 129 off 60 balls. This helped Gujarat Titans win the game by 62 to knock out the 5 time champs Mumbai Indians.

The story so far –

Mumbai Indians had seen Shubman Gill race off to a blazing start as he weas severe on all the bowlers. The 23 year old had already scored centuries versus Hyderabad and Bangalore. This time though he made full use of some wayward bowling by the men in blue and gold.

Chris Jordan and Ishan Kishan’s mix up causes an injury –

Englishman Chris Jordan came in as a mid season replacement for Jofra Archer. The right arm pacer and Ishan Kishan had a terrible run in when the elbow of  Jordan hit Kishan in the eye. This happened in the 16th over of the Gujarat Innings as Kishan soon made it out of the ground.

Kishan replaced by Vishnu Vinod as concussion substitute –

Rohit Sharma knew that he needed Ishan Kishan as the Gujarat total had already crept past 170 with 4 overs to go. Kishan had been vital for Mumbai as he was giving fast starts to the five time champions. In his place came Vishnu Vinod who took the gloves and came in for Kishan as a concussion substitute.

World Test Championship place in doubt?

Ishan Kishan’s injury wasn’t a headache for Mumbai Indians alone but also for the Indian team. The 24 year old was named as part of the Indian team for the World Test championships final. KS Bharat is the sole wicket keeper in the team so far and Kishan was expected to be the back up. With the game to start in 10 days, time will be crucial for the player and the BCCI management in case they have to name a replacement.
