Kolkata Knight Riders came to Ahmedabad with a huge boost after the massive win in the last game. Spin trio of CV Varun, Suyash Sharma and Sunil Narine bowled the two time champs to an 81 run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Their opponents on Sunday were Gujarat Titans. The defending champs had won both their games to stay unbeaten so far. Huge crowd lined up to watch the afternoon game between the two teams at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The story so far –

Rashid Khan was the captain for the home team as he replaced Hardik Pandya who wasn’t well. The Titans won the toss and chose to bowl first as Vijay Shankar came into the team. Kolkata gave a debut to N. Jagadeesan who replaced Mandeep Singh after a poor run of form. Lockie Ferguson was back in the team as he replaced Tim Southee to face his former side.

Jagadeesan takes an amazing running catch to dismiss Wriddhiman Saha –

Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill opened the innings and were quick to get into their groove. The pair had added 33 in 25 balls with Saha batting on 17 off 16 balls with 3 hits to the fence. That’s when the veteran India star went for a sweep shot of Narine and the ball went miles high in the air. Jagadeesan ran with his eyes on the ball and took a good catch to send back Saha for 17.

Sai Sudarshan keeps his good form going –

The fall of Saha saw Sai Sudarshan join Gill at the wicket as the pair added 67 runs in 44 balls. Narine got his 2nd wicket when he had Gill out for 39 caught by Umesh Yadav. Wicket number 3 was Abhinav Manohar who was bowled by Suyash Sharma for 14. Sai Sudarshan scored yet another fifty as he became Narine’s 3rd wicket. Sudarshan scored 53 off 38 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Vijay Shankar’s assault helps Gujarat post 204 –

Sai Sudarshan was out with the score reading 153/4 with 16 balls left in the innings. That’s when Gujarat found a new big hitting hero in Vijay Shankar. The 32 year old scored his highest ever score in IPL to be not out on 63 off 24 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes. This left the Kolkata bowlers searching for answers as Gujarat posted a massive 204 runs on the board.
