TATA Indian Premier League 2023 has reached its penultimate weekend. The 58th game of the season was played at Hyderabad with home team Sunrisers facing the Super Giants from Lucknow. Both the teams were looking for a win with Lucknow in the 5th place in the table with 11 points from 11 games. Hyderabad had 8 points from 10 games with them winning their last few games.
The story as it happened –
Aiden Markram won the toss and chose to bat first on a hot day at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium. There were few changes for both the teams as Sanvir Singh made his debut for Hyderabad. Yudivir Charak and Prerak Mankad came in for Deepak Hooda and Mohsin Khan.
Rahul Tripathi leaves everyone flummoxed with unusual shot –
Rahul Tripathi at number 3 has been in the middle of a decent with the bat for Hyderabad team. Tripathi was facing off against Avesh Khan when he shaped to play a scoop shot. Seeing this, the bowler bowled well outside off stump, but Tripathi was ready for this. He positioned himself well to cut it over the third man for four runs.
Hyderabad top order provide good start –
Abhishek Sharma and Anmolpreet Singh opened the batting and continued their attacking intent. The pair added 19 runs in 2.1 overs before Sharma fell for 7. Tripathi and Singh added 37 runs for the 2nd wicket with Tripathi scoring 20 off 13 balls before falling to Yash Thakur. Anmolpreet scored 36 off 27 balls with 7 fours as he offered an easy return catch Amit Mishra.
Klassen and Samad power Hyderabad to 182 –
Aiden Markram scored 28 off 20 balls with 2 fours and a six. Krunal Pandya then struck twice in 2 balls. The left arm spinner got rid of Markram stumped, then very next ball bowled Glenn Phillips for a 1st ball duck to leave SRH at 115/5.
Klassen was joined by Samad as the pair scored 58 runs for the 6th wicket in 40 balls as the South African scored 47. Klassen’s knock came off 29 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes, while Samad was not out on 37 off 25 balls with a four and 4 sixes as SRH scored 182/6.
