England’s domestic tournament the T20 Blast is keeping the players and fans glued to the edge of their seat. The game on Friday saw Hampshire take on Sussex at the Country Ground in Hove the home ground of Sussex. The match went down to the wire as both the teams gave it their all to win the game. Bradley Currie the young left arm fast bowler stole all the headlines as he took the best catch seen in a while.

The story as it happened –

James Vince the Hampshire skipper won the toss and chose to bowl first. The match was for the South Group in the 2023 season of T20 Blast. A win for Hampshire will take them to the 3rd place, while Sussex would stay in the 8th place out of the 9 teams in the South Group with Middlesex bottom of the table.

Bradley Currie takes a stunning catch –

24 year old Bradley Currie may not be known to the fans around the world. It alls changed as the youngster put himself into the limelight with an outstanding catch. The moment happened in the 19th over of the game. Tymal Mills was bowling to Australian Benny Howell with Hampshire still needing 23 off 11 balls and Howell on 25.

Mills bowled a ball on the length as Howell swung it to the leg side. It was destined to go for a six. That’s when Currie made his way making ground and flung himself to take an amazing one handed grab. The catch left everyone stunned the spectators, the players and the commentators alike.


Oliver Carter’s 64 helps Sussex score 183 –

Put into bat by Hampshire, the home side reach 183/6 from their allotted 20 overs. The star with the bat was Oliver Carter with 64 off 33 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Ravi Bopara the Sussex skipper scored 30 off 29 balls with a four and 3 sixes. Michael Burgess with 26, D. Ibrahim (18) and H. Ward with 16 were the other main scorers with the bat.

Hampshire fall short by 6 runs –

Chasing 184 to win, Ben McDermott (2), James Vince (8) and Tony Albert with a duck left the visitors at 15/3. The fall of Ross Whiteley for 1 had Hampshire at 24/4, but there was a 51 run stand for the 5th wicket between Liam Dawson and Joe Weatherley. Dawson was the top scorer with 59 off 34 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes, while Weatherley scored 33. Benny Howell was out for 25 off 14 balls with 4 fours as Chris Wood and Nathan Ellis scored 15 each. That wasn’t enough as Sussex ran out winners by 6 runs. Currie who took the amazing catch picked 3 wickets with the ball.
