Watch! Cricket Australia’s mind games is met with strong reply from Indian fans

H

India and Australia is a rivalry that brings out the best from players of both the teams. Pat Cummins and his men are in India after 6 long years to play a 4 match series. The first match of the blistering test series starts on Thursday with the 1st game at VCA stadium at Nagpur. Australia last won a series in India under Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist in 2004. It seems the mind games have begun even before the 1st ball could be bowled on Thursday.

Cricket Australia’s attempt to rile up Indian fans –

Indian fans were left seething in rage on Monday morning after seeing a tweet put out by Cricket Australia. The tweet contained highlights from the infamous Adelaide game in 2020. Cricket Australia captioned the tweet and wrote “All out for 36. The Border Gavaskar Trophy starts on Thursday! #INDvAUS”

India lost the game and went down 1-0 in just 2 and half days of play after getting bowled out for 36 in the 2nd innings. It is India’s worst ever performance in recent times as the performance still leaves a bitter taste in the mouth of many cricket fans.

Ian Healy leads the way in mind games –

Former Australian wicket keeper Ian Healy was the one who began the mind games even before the Aussies could land in India for the series. Healy said that if India prepare fair wickets unlike last time, Australia could win the series. Not too long ago, Healy’s home ground of Gabba at Brisbane was in the eye of the storm. Australia beat South Africa in two days in a pitch which even the ICC gave a rap on the knuckles too.

India’s heroic triumph in 2020/21 –

After losing the 1st test, every cricket expert called for an Australian series whitewash with a 4-0 margin. India though came back under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane by winning the MCG test by 8 wickets. Virat Kohli had decided to take a break to be with his wife as they were expecting the impending birth of their child.

India then went on to draw the 3rd test match at SCG in a game which was dominated by the home team. Indian pair of VIhari and Ashwin batted for over 40 overs to secure a draw despite the duo being injured.

India claim the series at Gabba –

Tim Paine’s constant, “Come To Gabba” jibe at Ashwin fell flat as India beat Australia by 3 wickets. This was the 1st time any team had beaten Australia at this venue for 33 years. Rishabh Pant scored a valiant 89 to secure a 3 wicket win for India and a seriers win with a 2-1 result.

Twitter reacts –

The tweet by Cricket Australia did not sit down well with the Indian fans. Former opener Aakash Chopra was the 1st to react. Chopra was seen tweeting and asking the series result. You can read all the tweets by fans below.
