It was a high octane clash yesterday between CSK and RR. CSK got young Yashasvi Jaiswal early, but that proved to be their only success for a long time. Sanju Samson put the yellow army under serious pressure through some breathtaking hitting. Samson meted out special treatment to the spinners. He especially took a liking to Piyush Chawla, who by the end of it looked clueless. Lungi NGidi finally got rid of the Kerala youngster, and CSK slowly started clawing their way back into the game. Steve Smith though ensured that RR didn’t collapse completely and still touch the 200 marks. Eventually the last overexploits by Jofra Archer meant that they crossed 200 quite easily.
Before the final over though, there was an incident between MS Dhoni and the umpires. Tom Curran was on strike and the ball seemed to take the thigh-pad but the umpire raised his finger after CSK appealed. Replays showed that the ball actually didn’t carry through to Dhoni and the umpires after giving Tom Curran out asked him to carry on batting. This incident didn’t impress the generally calm Dhoni and he had an argument with the umpires.

However, once it was evident that the ball hadn’t carried and therefore there was nothing that the umpires could do about it. This incident apparently infuriated Sakshi Dhoni who took to twitter saying, “If u r using the technology, then use it the right way… out is out whether its catch out or lbw…” Later, she deleted the tweet as well, probably pre-empting a controversy as the ball hadn’t carried through to Dhoni.
