With international cricket in full flow as the Indian team is embroiled in a tough series away at Australia, the Indian cricket fans are pretty much got their eyes transfixed on all the action down under. After the completion of the Australian series, India comes home to play a home series against the visiting English team. The fans will wait for April to roll through as the much anticipated IPL is around the corner. While there are many batting and bowling records in the IPL, there is one record that every fast bowler aspires for, to be called the fastest in the tournament. Last year the honor fell to South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje who bowled a ball that was clocked over 156 KPH for the Delhi Capitals. Here we look at the five potential fast bowlers who could break this record in the upcoming IPL in 2021.
Mitchell Starc – Australia
The left arm fast bowler has the natural pace to trouble a batsman and he also has the ability to bowl the heavy ball. Starc bowled one of the quickest deliveries in test cricket in recent times when he bowled a delivery clocked at 160.4 KPH against New Zealand in a test match at Perth.
Jofra Archer – England
Before Nortje made the head turning feat, it was Jofra Archer who was making heads turn with his pace as he occupied most of the spots in the fastest balls bowled in IPL 2020. With the ability to bowl quick with bounce and pace and a penchant to bowl in the 150 KPH bracket himself, Archer too could make a play for this record.
Jasprit Bumrah – India
Do not let his lanky frame fool you, Bumrah can crank it up in pace when in Rhythm the Indian fast bowling sensation has the ability to bowl really quick on his day and bowl in the upawards of 140 KPH and can bend his back to hit the 150 mark as well.
Kagiso Rabada – South Africa
Anrich Nortje has competition closer to home as his South African and Delhi team mate Kagiso Rabada can run him close with his need for speed. The tall South African quick is capable of bowling in the 150 mark with his easy action and unsettle any batsman in the world
Navdeep Saini – India
The Indian pace sensation who made the world sit up and take notice during the IPL 2019 with his speed and ability to hit the 150 KPH mark with ease will be another player who could have a go at the record of the fastest ball set back by Anrich Nortje in the next edition of the IPL in 2021.
