After two miserable IPL seasons RCB have this year started with 3 victories in 4 matches. The team combination is much more balanced this year and there seems to be a fixed fulcrum of the side. Young sensation Devdutt Padikkal has taken to IPL like fish to water and has become the only player in IPL history to score 3 fifties in 4 games.
Aaron Finch has blown hot and cold, but that man AB De Villiers has been living up to his lofty standards. The team seems to be peaking at the right time, with Captain Kohli also finding form after three tough games with the bat. What would please the management is the contribution of youngsters like Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini and Shivam Dube. They have all contributed at crucial times.
Yuzvendra Chahal has been exceptional
While all the above mentioned players have contributed, Yuzi Chahal has easily been the standout performer for the men in red. There hasn’t been a situation where the captain needed him and he didn’t deliver. Out of the 4 matches, the wily leg spinner has been the player of the match twice.
He continued his good form against RR and got the crucial wicket of Sanju Samson. The newly engaged bowler took the purple cap of Shami’s head and is the leading wicket-taker in the competition thus far. Chahal’s fiancé Dhanashree Verma (Dhanashree Verma) was mightily impressed by his performance and posted a story congratulating him.
