Match Number 12, April 19, 2021
Venue – Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
Time – 1930 PM IST
Likely Playing Conditions –
Mumbai has surprised one and all with the way it has played in the last few days as it started with tall scores in the game between Punjab and Rajasthan but had two back to back low scores but normal service was restored when the game between Delhi and Punjab saw huge score being chased. The pitch for the Monday’s game between Chennai and Rajasthan too can be expected to be a high scoring encounter
Likely Playing XI for Chennai Super Kings
Robin Uthappa, Faf Du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (Captain and WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Sam Curran and Ambati Rayudu
Likely Playing XI for Rajasthan Royals
Manan Vohra, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson (Captain and Wk), David Miller, Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Chris Morris, Jaydev Unadkat, Chetan Sakariya and Mustafizur Rahman.
Likely Star Performers with the Bat –
For Rajasthan Royals the run scoring will depend on the bat of Sanju Samson as he has started the tournament well with a blistering century against Punjab in the first game. Chris Morris and David Miller too will be in focus for the men in pink.
For Chennai the return to form of Du Plessis is a mighty relief along with the free stroking ways of Moeen Ali and Suresh Raina who have had a decent start to the season for the three times IPL champs.
Likely Star Performers with the ball-
Deepak Chahar will start as the favorite after his 4 wicket haul that blew Punjab apart and he has the most wickets in the power-play since 2018. Sam Curran will be another player to watch out for as he has the ability to swing the new ball and make life difficult for the batsmen
For Rajasthan the three left arm seam bowlers will play a huge role as they will be looking to continue their good form with the ball which they have shown especially Mustafizur Rahman who has shown glimpses of his IPL 2016 form
Players to tread caution with
Chennai will most likely bring Robin Uthappa to the playing XI and the 35 year old will be rusty and could be a hit and miss choice. Shardul Thakur has been expensive in his first two games so his choice too should be treated with caution
For Rajasthan Royals the form of Manan Vohra will be a concern as well as the talents of Shivam Dube who was expected to play a key role for RR during their games in Mumbai.
