
Coronavirus has seen its second wave rearing its ugly head in India and it has had much worse and far reaching effects than the first wave which was seen last year as there are many more causalities and many more mortalities which have been reported so far in what is India’s worse medical situation for quite a while. Many parts of India today are seeing lockdowns being re-imposed as well many restrictions come in to effect. The only solace for entertainment was the ongoing Indian premier league which is being played despite everything that has gone about in the India as far as COVID 19 is concerned. According to the news reports KKR players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier have tested positive while Pat Cummins has gone into isolation as a precaution.
The story as it happened –
There is terrible news coming out of Ahmedabad today as the game on Monday between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders which was to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium could be postponed due to Coronavirus scare. As per the reports coming out of Ahmedabad is concerned there are several members of the Kolkata Knight Riders have fallen ill and the players and the various members of the staff have gone into isolation as a precautionary measure.
Uncertain future for IPL on the cards –
There are has been a lot of voices which have come out and condemned holding of the IPL at such a time when the nation is battling its worst medical crisis and there have been calls to postpone the tournament and hold it a later date. The IPL governing council had made its plans clear to go ahead with the tournament and see it to its logical conclusion. This news will now throw a huge spanner in the works of the plans going forward as many more players will now want to assess their options and fly back home and safeguard their health. Earlier this year PSL too saw postponement after Fawad Ahmed was tested positive just hours before start of a game, only time will tell if this blip in the horizon or the league will face postponement in the days to come.
