Amit Mishra has been playing cricket for over two decades and has been one of the names who hasn’t really kicked on in the national colors despite getting a lot of chances. In the IPL though Amit Mishra is an absolute legend as he has been around the league ever since its inception in 2008 and yesterday he showed all his experience as he had a match winning spell against Mumbai Indians with a four wicket haul to pave the way for an easy Delhi win.
Sehwag lauds Amit Mishra –
Virender Sehwag knows a thing or two about the wily leg spinner as the former Indian opener has played with him in international cricket and also in the IPL when they were both part of the Delhi franchise for the first three years between 2008-10. Sehwag was quick to laud the bowling of Amit Mishra and while speaking to a leading cricket website Sehwag said “He is the kind of guy who is very calm and talks gently to everybody. He gets to mingle with everyone pretty quickly. So that’s why he becomes the favourite of his teammates. When he gets beaten, other players feel for him. And when takes wickets, all are happy for him”
Virender Sehwag remembers a unique request from Amit Mishra-
Virender Sehwag was quick to remember an interesting story after Amit Mishra picked his first IPL hat-trick, Sehwag said “I remember when he claimed his first hat-trick. I asked him what do you want and he said ‘Viru Bhai, please get my salary increased.’ Now, I feel, he would be getting that much amount of money that he won’t ask for a raise even after getting another hat-trick” Amit Mishra got the key wickets of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Ishan Kishan. Speaking about the four wicket haul Sehwag opined “He bowled really well. That’s why he is one of the best bowlers of this tournament. He has the most wickets as a spinner. Had Rohit Sharma played his normal game against him, he could have scored 60-70 runs easily”
Amit Mishra has played 152 games in the IPL and picked 164 wickets with one five wicket haul at an economy rate of 7.3 runs per over and Rishabh Pant will hope that the veteran can keep his form and hopefully land Delhi its first IPL title this year.
