February 18th, 2021 saw Chennai become the battleground for the eight team owners descended to buy the players they want to have a successful IPL 2021 season. One of the teamβs that was armed with a huge amount of cash was the newly rechristened Punjab kings. The Preity Zinta owned side which won just one game from 7 early in the tournament won five games on the trot to make a serious play for the play-off places last year but lost the last two matches to finish short of the top four places. They had let go off a lot of players and came into the auction looking to make the right buys.
Shah Rukh Khan lights up the auction table
The name Shah Rukh Khan is synonymous with one of the well known Bollywood superstars in India who has ruled the cine world for the three decades. Shah Rukh Khan also happens to be the owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise and yesterday in strange but comical happenings the KKR table had his son Aryan Khan be part of the auction table. Aryan Khan had a chuckle on his face when he heard the name of Shah Rukh Khan being announced for auction. 25 year old Chennai cricketer Shah Rukh Khan who was named after the cine Idol was bought by Punjab Kings for INR 5.25 Crore.
Preity Zinta teases Aryan Khan
Once it was confirmed that 25-year-old Chennai-based cricketer Shah Rukh Khan will play for Punjab Kings. The owner of the Punjab outfit, the every bubbly Bollywood heroine Preity Zinta turned to Aryan Khan and teased him saying βWe Got Shah Rukh, Aryanβ the youngster had a smile on his face which was all caught on camera. Preity Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan (the hero) have starred in many blockbusters which are still spoken about to this day by the fans of both the actors. It sure was a light hearted moment between the two tables during such an intense battle as the IPL auctions can bring about.
