The 2022 season of TATA IPL is drawing to a close as we head into the 2nd eliminator of the tournament. The 2 month long tournament has seen some of the best cricket being played this season. Many players have come and done their best, while a few have left a lasting impression. IPL has always thrown up new names who have dominated the headlines, but this year there have been a few knowns who have re-established their talents on the field of play. Shoaib Akhtar has come out and spoken highly of one such player .

When the season began , Dinesh Karthik was just another name for every average cricket fan. But the way the 36 year old has played has been truly amazing , as he has caught a 2nd wind towards the fag end of his career. Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has come out and praised Dinesh Karthik against whom he has the chance to play during this career. Akhtar while speaking to Sportskeeda said “ I usually avoid speaking about people’s personal lives. What I want to say here is that he had suffered some setbacks in his personal life, but he came back really well after that. I have followed his personal life and read quite a bit about it. And I really like how he has come back. I would say well done to him. This is what attitude is all about, It’s a big thing. Dinesh Karthik is a player from my era. He’s really fit and mentally strong. Good things happen to good people. Great to see the way he has made a comeback into the Indian team. My best wishes are with him”
Dinesh Karthik turns back the clock in style –
Dinesh Karthik made his Indian debut in 2004 during the tour of England as an 19 year old. He was part of the 2007 T20 world cup triumph and has had a stop start career in the Indian colours. His last test match appearance came in 2018 while he last played an ODI in 2019 in the semi finals against New Zealand. This year, DK has been in tremendous form and added a new dimension to his game with 360 degree batting. Karthik has scored over 300 runs this season at a strike rate of 187. He scored a brilliant 37 in the first eliminator against LSG and helped RCB reach 207. On the back of such form, Karthik has got a call up to the Indian squad for the 5 match T20 series against South Africa.
