TATA IPL 2022 season might be over, but the stories and newer records keep tumbling out. Gujarat Titans on Sunday won their first title in the very first year the team made its presence in the competition. Gujarat on Sunday beat Rajasthan Royals in the final in front of their home crowd at the Narendra Modi stadium at Ahmedabad. It was a fulfilling end to the season for the Hardik Pandya led side. The team coached by Ashish Nehra played enthralling cricket with the bat and ball and rightfully put their hands on the trophy.

Mohammad Shami’s unique feat –

Gujarat Fast bowler Mohammad Shami was one of the best bowlers of the tournament with the new ball. The 31 year old Indian fast bowler, was crucial for Hardik Pandya as he gave them wickets at the right junctures. Shami, though has created a record that no one saw coming. The 31 year old right arm fast bowler became the first player in the history of the IPL to play all the matches and not bat in any of the games. Shami played 16 games this season and picked 20 scalps with the ball for GT.

Fruitful season for GT –

Before the season began, none of the fans or the cricket experts gave Gujarat a chance. It was Hardik Pandya and coach Ashish Nehra who built the team from scratch. They got the likes of Rashid Khan from SRH and Shubman Gill from KKR during the draft. GT were smart in the auction with some crucial buys like, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia and Mohammad Shami. All these players had a huge role in GT winning the TATA IPL 2022 title. Hardik Pandya in particular led from the front as he scored over 450 runs with the bat at an average of 45.

GT will hope to continue the good form going into the next season, as the men from Ahmedabad will look to bolster their squad and show their prowess during the 2023 season.
