Its official Mumbai Indians are not out of the race for a final place after losing their 8th match in a row. This is the worst ever performance by any team in the history of the league. The loss and the elimination came on the day when Sachin Tendulkar turned 49 at the fortress for Mumbai Indians, which is the Wankhede stadium. The poor run of show with the bat continued for Ishan Kishan and the 23-year-old yesterday fell to the most bizzare dismissal seen in the history of TATA IPL.
Luck runs out for Ishan Kishan –
Mumbai Indians were tasked with the responsibility of scoring 169 to achieve their 1st win of the season. A win against LSG on Sunday would have given Mumbai a minor hope for revival and a chance to stay in the tournament. Mumbai Indians for the first time got a good opening stand when Rohit and Ishan Kishan added 49. Rohit was the aggressor as he was looking in his elements. Ishan Kishan on the other hand was struggling for form and timing. With his score reading 8, Kishan got an under edge off the bowling of Ravi Bishnoi. The ball hit the foot of Quinton De Kock and flew to Jason Holder who was at 1st slip. The LSG players went up for appeal and the on-field umpires went up and that’s when the 3rd umpire ruled in favor of the fielding team. Kishan was out for 8 to cap off yet another miserable day with the bat.
Twitter has its say on the dismissal –
Ishan Kishan was bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 15.25 Crores. The 23 year old wicket keeper has struggled to score runs after score 81 and 54 runs in the first two games. The costliest player in the IPL has been under a lot of pressure and has been at the receiving end of criticism from the fans. After yet another struggle with the bat, Kishan was seen to be getting support from a few fans for the bad luck he has been going through.
