The league phase of the TATA IPL 2022 comes to a end on Sunday with PBKS and SRH locking horns. Gujarat, Lucknow and Rajasthan have already qualified for the final four. PBKS, RCB, DC and SRH are the 4 teams in waiting for the play-offs. It has been a terrible season for the champions of the league. Wednesday night saw KKR crash out of the tournament, while Mumbai had already been dumped out at the half way stage. One of the biggest disappointments of the season was the form shown by CSK.
Matheesha Pathirana makes himself heard literally –
Chennai Super Kings in the last game against Gujarat Titans, unleashed one of the most promising bowlers ever. The debut of young Matheesha Pathirana reminded people of a very young Lasith Malinga. The youngster has the same slingy action as Malinga and did the captain of CSK proud by picking a wicket off the first ball. Ahead of their final game, the men in yellow were in practice and the right arm fast bowler did some damage. Chennai Super Kings took to their official Instagram account and showed Pathirana breaking the lens of a camera while bowing a bouncer to a batsman. The batsman ducked and the ball struck the lens on the full. This broke the lens of the camera much to the amusement of many.
CSK looking to make a strong back next season –
Chennai Super Kings play their last game of the season against Rajasthan Royals. While Royals have qualified, they will be looking to win the game to go 2nd in the table. CSK meanwhile will also want to win the game and finish ninth in the table rather than take the wooden spoon position that Mumbai find themselves in. MS Dhoni has already stated his intent to be part of the team as a captain next year. Apart from the captaincy chaos, the CSK team management also has to deal with the Ravindra Jadeja issue. There are reports even Ambati Rayudu is miffed with CSK and there is a lot of confusion after his retirement tweet. Although he deleted the tweet, the damage was already done as many tongues started wagging about the trouble in CSK’s paradise.
