It is no secret that the standards of umpiring this season has been really poor. Time and time again, game after game we have seen controversy with the wisemen in the middle. With the pressure getting to the players towards the end of the league phase, the last thing one needs is the umpire playing the spoilsport. The game between RCB and GT is one such as RCB are under the pump. The Faf Du Plessis led side need a win to stay in contention for a place in the play-offs.
Matthew Wade gets out cheaply yet again-
Matthew Wade is making his entry into the IPL 11 years after he last played the league. Wade was the preferred opener for Gujarat when the tournament began. After a poor run of form, he saw Saha take his spot at the top of the order. Wade has recently made a comeback into the XI and slotted at number 3. Today just when he was looking set he got sent back to the hut. The 35 year old went for a sweep off fellow Australian Glenn Maxwell. The RCB team went up with an appeal and the umpired signaled Wade out LBW. The batsman went up for an instant review as he was confident that he was not out.
Wade gets furious after getting sent back to the hut –
Once the decision went up to the 3rd umpire, it was seen that Wade’s bat hadn’t made contact with the ball. The Ball tracker showed that the ball was hitting the stumps and the on field decision to give the batsman out stayed. Many commentators felt that Wade was hard done by with this decision, and the Australian showed his frustration while going out of the ground. Once he made his way back to the dressing room, Wade was furious to say the least. Wade could be seen walking into the dressing room and throwing his helmet on the ground. He then went on to smash his bat on the ground a few times before smacking a few things and throwing his gloves onto the ground.
