It is the final game of the season for Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, and there is lot at stake for the double R’s. A win for Chennai would make no difference apart from solidify their place in the 9th place in the table. A win for Rajasthan though will take them to the 2nd place and a chance to play against Gujarat in the first game of the play-offs on Tuesday. Chennai won the toss and made one change with Rayudu coming in for Dube as MSD chose to bat first. RR made one change with Hetmyer coming in for Jimmy Neesham.

Moeen Ali creates mayhem against Boult –

When Trent Boult came on to bowl the 6th over of the innings, the score was reading 49 for 1 from 5 overs. Boult had conceded just 14 runs from his 2 overs, but what followed was carnage from the bat of Moeen. The first ball went for a huge six, the 2nd ball was hit for a imperious four. The 3rd ball was flicked away for four yet again, as was the 4th ball when Moeen Ali hit the ball over the short 3rd man. This shot got Ali his half century which came off just 19 balls, the 2nd fastest after Suresh Raina. The 5th ball saw the ball go past the point boundary for a four. The last ball saw Moeen Ali caress the ball through the covers for yet another 4. This got 26 runs off the over and CSK had reached 75 for 1 from their 6 overs.

Moeen Ali finishes on 93 to help Chennai reach 150-

After the dazzling stroke play in the first 6 overs, the next 14 overs produced exactly 75 runs in what was slow going from the CSK batsmen. Devon Conway was out for 16 when he was adjudged LBW to Ashwin. Jagadeesan with 1 and Rayudu with 3 then fell quickly, MS Dhoni came out to huge cheers but he labored his way to 26 off 28 balls with a four and a six. CSK ended the innings at 150 for 6 with Moeen Ali scored 93 off 57 with 13 fours and 3 sixes.

Just at the toss Mahendra Singh Dhoni confirmed that he will be playing the IPL next year for Chennai Super Kings.
