TATA Indian Premier League 2023 finally saw the league phase matches get over on Sunday. It was a blockbuster double header as Mumbai Indians took on Sunrisers Hyderabad at Mumbai. In the other game it was Royal Challengers Bangalore hosting the defending champions Gujarat Titans. It was a must win game for both Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. There was a lot at stake as the battle for the top four places to reach the play off places was getting heated up.

The story as it happened –

Mumbai Indians had earlier in the day beaten Sunrisers Hyderabad to reach 16 points. The 5 time champs beat the 2016 winners thanks to a century by Cameron Green while chasing 201. For Bangalore the task was simple as they just had to beat Gujarat, but much to the shock of everyone, Gujarat won the game by 6 wickets with 5 balls to spare.

Shubman Gill the hero for Gujarat Titans –

Chasing 198 to win at the Chinnaswamy stadium in any game is always fancied while batting 2nd. This game though was different as a noisy Bangalore crowd was fully behind their team.

Shubman Gill kept his nerves as he scored unbeaten 104 runs off 52 balls. The 23 year old hit the winnings in the form of a six to reach the triple figure mark and also help the Titans win the game.

Fans abuse Gill and his family –

Seeing that Royal Challengers Bangalore had missed the play-off, few fans totally lost the plot. Twitter was abuzz last night post the game as few fans shared the Instagram ID of Shubman’s sister. While few were abusing the brother and sister duo, few fans went even lower. One fan was seen putting up the picture of Pant’s car which met with an accident and wrote few derogatory things for the young Indian opener.

Twitter reacts –

This behavior from certain sections of the fans did not sit down well with the rest of the fans. Hardcore RCB fans came out to slam such behavior which sullied the name of their entire franchise. While few fans even asked the legal and cyber authorities to intervene.
