The story as it happened –
India lost both their Super 4 games, first to Pakistan and then to Sri Lanka. This put them on the verge of an exit without playing the final. The only chance India had was if they Afghanistan had beaten Pakistan. The game which was played at Sharjah went down to the wire. Naseem Shah hit 2 sixes off two balls, when Pakistan needed 11 from 6 balls to seal the game for the men in green. This meant not only India, but also Afghanistan was out of the tournament and the two remaining teams (SL and Pak) were into the final.
