It was a great Sunday for the Indian team and its fans as the men in blue beat the Irish by 7 wickets. India’s win came with 16 balls to go in the game and take a 1-0 lead in the series consisting 2 matches. The 2nd game will be played on Tuesday as Hardik Pandya got his captaincy stint off to a great start. It was a perfect day for swing and seam bowling with overcast skies and green tinge on the playing surface.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar breaks the speed gun (or not) and the internet –

The very first ball of the game saw high drama, not with the bat or ball but on the broadcaster speed gun. The first ball of the game was measured at 208 KPH or 129 Miles Per Hour. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s fastest recorded ball in his career has been close to 147 KPH. The 208 KPH ball was a glitch for sure but the fans saw the funny side to it.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar shows his skills with the ball –

India decided to bowl first in the 12 over per side game in Hardik Pandya’s first game as skipper. Bhuvneshwar Kumar made a terrific contribution with the ball as he bowled 3 overs. Kumar had the wicket of Balbirnie for 2 ball duck while giving away 16 runs and bowling a maiden over. Post the game Kumar was heard saying Yes, I did enjoy bowling. There was a bit of swing with the new ball. It was much better to bat after 4-5 overs. Doesn't matter what format it is, if you get these kinds of wickets it is always good to bowl Test-match line and length”

Bhuvi speaks on Umran Malik’s debut –

It was a special day for one 22 year old from Jammu and Kashmir, as Umran Malik finally made his India debut. He was handed the India cap by the senior of the side in Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Malik bowled just one over and gave 14 runs way but was clocking above 140 on each occasion, hitting the top speed of 148 KPH. Speaking about Umran Malik, Bhuvi said "Umran made his debut, and few more are yet to make, so we have a lot of exciting talent. This is the kind of format which produces many cricketers. The best part about our team is wherever we go people come out to support us."

The fans react to the glitch –

Indian cricket fans meanwhile did not leave the chance to have some light hearted moments on Twitter. The speed gun glitch bought out the best in the fans as they showed their humourous side with funny comments. One fan asked “Shoaib Akhtar who?”. The rest of the fans too took to the social media site to have their say and you can read the tweets below.
